About this event

A Poverty Truth Commission takes an innovative approach to tackling the root causes of poverty by turning the usual power balance on its head, beginning with those with lived experience of poverty – the Community Commissioners.

At this launch event you will hear personal stories from our inspirational Community Commissioners and begin to understand what life is like struggling against poverty today in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

We will welcome our Civic and Business Commissioners who have agreed to join the Commission and work together alongside our Community Commissioners in a radically different relational way of working to co-design solutions to the stubborn and persistent problems surrounding poverty.

The Life Centre in Moordown is home to the Bournemouth Life House Foodbank. If you are able to bring a donation on the day it would be much appreciated, thank you. Items most needed are tea, coffee and toiletries. A full list of other items required can be found on the Foodbank website.

Parking at the Life Centre is strictly limited and we ask where possible you travel sustainably by walking, cycling, Beryl bike/scooter, bus or car-share. Parking is free in the residential side roads. If you do require an accessible parking space please indicate at the time of booking.
