What is the GM Moving LGBTQ+ Network

The LGBTQ+ Network is a collection of people and partners across our region who are working together to create a Greater Manchester that enables active lives for LGBTQ+ people.

We believe that together we can create the culture, conditions and practices that support movement, physical activity, and sport in inclusive and welcoming ways, so that LGBTQ+ people of all ages and backgrounds feel that an active life is normal, welcoming and something to be proud of.

The LGBTQ+ Network is a non-judgemental space for people to bring their ideas, their questions so we can learn together. The network come together every 8 weeks to share stories of their work, their learning, personal and professional challenges and to work together on some key priorities, which are reviewed as the network develops.

There are people in this network with wide ranging roles from health, youth work, sport, leisure, culture, LGBTQ+ charities and much more. We have a shared purpose in this agenda and are committed to inclusion in everything we do, across the life course, in every place and sector.

It is open to everyone, and we would love you to join us for our first face-to-face meeting of the LGBTQ+ Network.

During the face-to-face meeting, which will be held at the Proud Trust, we will facilitate a session that will:

• Explore stories of best practice from the system

• Capture the value of the network

• Explore the future vision and forward planning for the network

• Give us a chance to network with colleagues across the system
