Leeds is the largest city in Yorkshire and the only regional city with permanent theatre, ballet, contemporary dance and opera companies. Our global sporting prowess embraces, football, cricket, cycling, athletics, boxing. The city presents scintillating theatre, opera and music scenes, along with a formidable independent food and drink sector. Leeds is a city that embraces and welcomes a multitude of voices and possibilities. It is a city where 170 different languages are spoken and where the world’s cultures can be found.
The LEEDS 2023 Year of Culture has further platformed the exceptional creative and cultural talent in the city and facilitated multiple opportunities to boost its creative economy. Leeds is a very special place. Its history, the people and the buildings, are all testament to a city with a rich heritage that has evolved through the many generations of talented people who all call it ‘home’. This abundance of cultural activity and pride cannot be sustained without a passionate, knowledgeable, connected, and experienced creative community.
