It was the sound bite heard round the world: “I have the best advice for women in business. Get your f*cking ass up and work. It seems like nobody wants to work these days,” Kim Kardashian said in an interview with Variety ahead of the new season of The Kardashians on Hulu.

In the 18 19 days since the interview was published, we’ve gotten visuals of the multiple (!!) tattoos Pete Davidson got in homage to his lawyer GF, confirmed that Khloé is “staying positive” and dating again in the wake of all the Tristan Thompson drama, and learned that Kylie made the decision to change her baby’s name, among many other viral moments c/o the famous family. But if, like us, you were also holding your breath for Kim to say something about the backlash to her “work harder” comment—which was even quoted in a joke at the Oscars!—we have news: Kim has broken her silence!

During an interview with Good Morning America’s Robin Roberts, Kim apologized, saying, “That statement that I said was without questions and conversation around it, and it became a sound bite really with no context. In that sound bite, I came off of the notion in the question right before, which was, ‘After 20 years of being in the business, you’re famous for being famous.’ And my whole tone and attitude changed with the previous question that went into that question about, ‘What advice would you give to women?’”

The star further explained that under different circumstances, she would have said something to the effect of, “Having a social media presence and having a reality show does not mean overnight success. And you have to really work hard to get there, even if it might seem like it’s easy and that you can build a really successful business off of social media and you can if you put in a lot of hard work. And it wasn’t a blanket statement toward women or to feel like I don’t respect the work or [don’t] think that they work hard—I know that they do. That was taken out of context, but I’m really sorry if it was received that way.”

Welp, there you have it, folks. Now that that’s settled, if you’re moving on to other Kardashian news, you might want to check out the truly iconic photos of Travis Barker and Kourtney Kardashian on the Oscars red carpet last night—enjoy!
