Specific Objective Coastal and Transitional Water Ecosystems
Project Budget € 5,6M
ERDF Amount € 3,8M
Duration 04/2018 - 06/2023 (62 months)

Description

The project MARINEFF will contribute to reducing the negative impacts of marine infrastructures (MIs) on ecosystems and turning them into structures that will help protect ecosystems and biodiversity in the Channel area.

MARINEFF will propose new materials and ecological functions for marine infrastructures that currently have negative impacts on ecosystems. These new biomimetic MIs will help construction companies and harbour and shoreline managers to promote sustainable territorial development. The project also promotes sustainable green tourism by developing new MIs that will support the study of coastal biodiversity.

The project will also implement new biomimetic MIs that imitate native oyster habitats. The long-term deployment of this new technology will generate employment by supporting the revitalisation of fishing by restoring the stock of this commercial species.
