Knowledge Manager - Law Firm - Miami, LATAM, LAC

A leading UK based law firm with a reach that extends globally has a newly created requirement for a Knowledge Manager to be based out of Miami or one of multiple locations in Latin America or the Caribbean. The purpose of the role is to lead on the provision of KM services for the firms LAC presence. This will include the delivery of KM objectives as directed from London which includes research services, legal training and KM processes/systems. The role is a new requirement and will require someone that can operate as a self-starter and deliver on a road-map.

The primary objectives and responsibilities in this Knowledge Manager role include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting information/research activities and managing information suppliers/procurement of information and research resources
  • Ownership and development of each office's knowhow collections, including gathering and collating useful knowhow documents for each practice area 
  • Partnering with the wider Knowledge Management team based in London to create a knowhow repository for LAC offices for the storage and retrieval of team/practice area knowhow
  • Legal training - identifying the legal technical training needs and facilitating a training programme designed to keep lawyers up to date with relevant changes
  • Driving a knowledge sharing culture across all of the region's teams and offices
  • Project Management - Assisting with, or implementing KM projects as agreed with the wider KM leadership team

To be a suitable applicant for this requirement, you will require the following experience and skills:

  • Experience working within a similar knowledge related function in legal services and at a senior level
  • Ideally a mix of the following KM experience: legal information/research services; facilitating provision of training on substantive law), or within a legal practice team
  • Billingual Spanish and English speaking skills are a pre-requisite for the role
  • The ability to manage senior stakeholders, build strong relationships and leverage internal networks at all levels across a firm
  • A demonstrable ability to establish governance models and processes around the capture and dissemination of knowledge content
  • Strong legal research skills
  • Highly developed IT skills, the ability to quickly learn new systems and experience of the legal tech landscape would be of particular interest
  • Relevant UK, US or LAC legal or information related qualifications
