Easter-HAF-Image-691x514

This Easter, what better way to spend the time away from school than with a new set of Hands-On Holidays Clubs, with a new theme on each day?

Throughout 25-27 March, from 10am to 3pm, you can discover exciting STEM challenges, learn about bees and bugs and uncover the secrets of different fuel systems! There's loads of fun for everyone! We'll even be providing a mid-morning snack, drinks and a hot lunch (dietary requirements are catered for).

For ages 7 – 14.

Breakfast Drop-Off 8am to 10am

We will be offering an early drop-off slot from 8am to 10am. Supervision will be provided on each day from 8am until the main activities begin at 10am. A healthy, nutritious, breakfast will be provided between 8am and 9.30am. We’ll even have some classroom-based activities, such as colouring to entertain our visitors while they’re having their breakfast.

Main Activities

All our activities run from 10am-3pm. A mid-morning snack, drinks and a hot lunch will be provided. Dietary requirements will be catered for.

Each day will consist of several activities, including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) topics, crafts and physical activity. An overview of these activities are below.

STEM Challenge Day - Monday 25 March

Are you up for the challenge? Uncover a whole day of challenging STEM activities that you can really get stuck into!* First, take on the RVR robots assault course, guiding your tracked robot across ramps and around obstacles. Next, discover what you can build with an MTa kit, working as a team to build amazing creations. Finally, take control of a SPHERO robot and see where it will take you.

*Activities are subject to change.

Bees and Bugs Day - Tuesday 26 March

Find activities to buzz about as you uncover the secrets of the working bee, and learn all about how honey is manufactured. Then, become part of the hive as you help the Museum build a bug hotel, to give insects around the site somewhere cosy to live. You'll even get the chance to build one of your own to take home too!

Fantastic Fuels Day - Wednesday 27 March

How are cars fuelled? How is nature fuelled? How are humans fuelled?

Join this club to learn all about how fuel systems work and what fuels are the best, not only for you, but for the environment, too! You will be able to enjoy a full day of hands-on activities, with drawing, creating and exploring the collection with a tour of the Museum, inside and out, to discover how fuel really makes things go.

All children aged 7-14 are welcome, and we can welcome sibling groups, even if one child is over 14 years old. Priority will be given to children who can attend all three days. The club has a maximum of 16 places per day. The club needs to fill a minimum of 5 places per day to go ahead. If we do not have enough places filled, we will inform you by 15 March.
