Admission to the university is conditional upon:

Successfully passing a Hebrew proficiency exam
Successfully passing an English proficiency exam
Meeting the admission requirements of one of the acceptance options:

Admission for graduates of Mechinat Olim
Admission based solely on Psychometry/SAT/ACT scores
Admission based solely on a foreign diploma
Admission based on a previous accredited academic degree

Proficiency Exams

Hebrew Proficiency Exam

Acceptance to the university is conditional upon successfully passing the Hebrew proficiency exam (YAEL / YAELNET) of the National Institute for Testing & Evaluation (NITE) with a minimum score of 105.

The following programs require a score of 120: Medical Imaging, Psychology (single-major), and Social Work

A score of 105/120 is the threshold for admission, but during your studies you will have to take additional courses or obtain an exemption. Exemption from studying Hebrew based on the YAEL/YAELNET exam is a score of 132 or higher.

Who does not need to take a Hebrew proficiency exam for admission (but might be required to take an exam through היחידה להבעה אקדמית ואולפן)?

Graduates of a Mechina for Olim recognized by Bar-Ilan University (with a level 5 at least)
Graduates of the 30+ Preparatory Mechina
Graduates of the Behina Yerushalmit with a minimum score of 80
Graduates from a recognized Ulpan who received an exemption from Hebrew courses
Those that took the Psychometric examination in Hebrew

You may register for your academic studies before you receive your exam scores – However, acceptance will be based on availability.

English Proficiency Exam

Acceptance to the university is conditional upon successfully passing the English proficiency exam (AMIRAM) of the National Institute for Testing & Evaluation (NITE) with a score of at least 85.

** Excluding the Department of English Literature and Linguistics, for which a score of at least 120 is required & the Medical Imaging program, for which a score of at least 100 is required

The minimum score in the English proficiency exams in English are the threshold scores for admission. As part of the requirements for completing your BA studies, you will be required to take courses in English.

High school graduates from English-speaking countries are exempt from the English proficiency exam.

How to input scores:

Overall grade from the Mechinat Olim (ציון בגרות משוקלל)
Mathematics score and units (ציון בגרות במתמטיקה, יח"ל )
English score and units (ציון בגרות באנגלית, יח"ל) - Those who received an exemption from English course (מתקדמים א, ב, פטור), should input a score of 95 with 5 יח"ל
Psychometry, overall score (ציון בחינה פסיכומטרי)
Psychometry, mathematics score (ציון מתמטיקה בפסיכומטרי)

Note:

• Graduates who receive a Mathematics score in a 4 יח"ל course, receive a bonus of 5 points to the overall grade

• Graduates who receive a Mathematics score in a 5 יח"ל course, receive a bonus of 10 points for the overall grade

• Graduates who received an exemption from studying English (4 or 5 יח"ל), should input a score of 95 with 5 יח"ל

• Courses of study that require psychometric scores - also apply to graduates of the Mechinat Olim

Admission Based on a Previous Accredited Academic Degree

Admission based on an academic degree recognized by the Higher Education Council

Admission is evaluated on an individual basis and the academic relevance of the existing degree to the degree in which the candidate wishes to study. List of department in which there is admission based on a previous academic degree
Admission is without psychometry\SAT\ACT (except in the Faculty of Law, detailed information on the faculty website) and based on an academic exemption from English language studies in the previous degree
A degree taught in the Hebrew language will grant the candidate an academic exemption from the obligation to study Hebrew

Admission Based Solely on Foreign Diploma

Departments not listed - Admissions based on a foreign diploma is not possible, and applicants must apply with SAT/ACT/psychometric scores
