Four new priests are due to be ordained by Archbishop Bernard Longley at St Chad’s Cathedral this September (2020), with two new bishops ordained the following month.

Seminarians Alex Taylor, Clive Dytor, Benedict Skipper and Sean Gough (pictured l-r) were ordained as transitional deacons last year as they completed their final years of study. This year’s ordinations were due to take place in July but due to the global pandemic, will now be held over two weekends in September.

On Saturday 12 September, Revered Clive Dytor and Reverend Alex Taylor will be ordained to the priesthood at noon and the following weekend, Sunday 20th September will see the ordinations of Reverend Sean Gough and Reverend Benedict Skipper at 3pm.

Although the Masses will be closed to all but family and friends, both ordinations can be watched via the Cathedral’s live stream.

In addition we are delighted to confirm that Archbishop Bernard will celebrate the Episcopal Ordination of Bishops Elect David Evans and Stephen Wright on Friday 9 October at 12 noon at St Chad’s Cathedral.

Bishop Elect David Evans (left) will be the Auxiliary Bishop for Birmingham and Worcestershire and Bishop Elect Stephen Wright (right) will be the Auxiliary Bishop for the Northern Deaneries (Dudley, Lichfield, North Staffordshire, Stafford, Walsall and Wolverhampton)
