The Seventh International Symposium on Arctic Research (ISAR-7) was held in Tachikawa, Tokyo on March 6-10, 2023, by a hybrid manner (partly in-person and partly online).

We had 336 presentations in 4 keynote speeches, 10 regular sessions, 19 special sessions, 16 session presentations and poster session. The number of participants was 448 (340 in-person and 108 online) from 24 countries/areas including all of 8 Arctic Council countries. 4 outstanding poster presentations were awarded. The symposium was quite successful with fruitful discussions under the symposium theme.

Sincere thanks to all those who supported us in organizing the symposium, and to all the participants.

Easier entry into Japan from October 11, 2022

(As of September 29, 2022)

New entry restrictions and action measures for foreign nationals regarding COVID-19 infection in Japan will be revised from October 11, 2022.

<Details of the easing measures>

  • The new entry restrictions for foreigners will be reviewed and the upper limit of the number of foreign visitors will be removed.
  • Resumption of visa waiver measures
  • Foreigners can enter Japan with a certificate of COVID-19 vaccination (3 times) or a negative certificate of a test taken within 72 hours before departure from the original country/region.
