Age UK Coventry & Warwickshire offer a confidential and professional counselling service for individuals age 65 and over.

How can we help?

Counselling provides you with the time and space to talk about any difficulties, thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental and confidential way.

The Service can support people who may be experiencing bereavement, anxiety, stress, depression and difficult emotions such as low self-esteem. We can also support carers who are finding their role challenging.

We also deliver a bereavement support group based in Coventry City Centre.

How is it delivered?

The service offers up to 6 weeks of support and is delivered by telephone, on line or face to face in the client’s own home. Please note we can only offer face to face sessions if we have a counsellor available in the relevant area so please check with the service first.

Our Counsellors:

•Fully qualified volunteer counsellors
•Trainee counsellors on placement who have had a minimum of two years training and are signed off as fit to practice.
•All have independent supervision
•All are members of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) or a similar recognised body and follow the code of ethics and good practice. Our organisation is also a member of the BACP.

You can talk about whether you would be happy to be counselled by a trainee counsellor at your assessment. Please note that if you decide that you only want a volunteer qualified counsellor you are likely to have a longer wait time for your therapy.

Trainee Counselling Placements

We have a number of trainee placements available throughout the year. You will need to be able to deliver sessions during the working week as our service does not provide evening and weekend appointments.

If you are interested in a placement, then please email counselling@ageukcovwarks.org.uk for more information.
