If you are homeless

If you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless, you need to complete a Housing Advice form to tell us about your situation.

We can then assess your housing needs and see if we can help. Unfortunately we are unable to help everyone who is homeless.

Short term housing

We can provide short term housing to you if you are in an immediate housing crisis. Short term accommodation may only consist of one room for you and the other people included on your application. Due to a shortage in local housing in our area, we may not be able to find you temporary accommodation in Adur or Worthing.

Longer term housing

Only people listed on the housing register will be considered for permanent housing. Your application for housing will be assessed alongside other applicants on the housing register, and will not be prioritised solely on the basis that you are homeless.

Unfortunately because there are not enough available homes to meet the very high demand for social housing in Adur and Worthing, joining the register does not guarantee you will get a property. On average most people wait three years to be offered housing.

Paying rent

You will need to pay rent and service charges for any accommodation which we provide. If you have a low income, you may be able to claim Housing Benefit to help cover your rent.
