The Counselling and Mental Health team are here to support you, You don’t have to wait until you feel completely lost and in crisis before asking for help. In order to access our individual services you must be an enrolled student living in the UK and registered with GP/Doctor. You can find resources available to you overseas on the Support and Wellbeing if you're living abroad page, and more information on registering with a GP on the Register with a GP page.
Part of Student Support and Wellbeing, CMH is a team of mental health professionals that holds a confidential space of compassion and support for you, and we’re here to offer you guidance and orientation on emotional wellbeing and mental health.
We can help you understand what Mental Health support is available (both within MDX and outside) and coordinate your access to it.
We provide a series of individual and group sessions to help you cope with current issues that are impacting your student journey like stress, anxiety, low mood, or procrastination. Our services are provided both online and in-person, aligning to the Middlesex blended-learning experience offered this academic year.
We can also help you address any emotional difficulties that you've been having and support you in processing impactful experiences and events.
All of the support, sessions, and communication with us remains confidential.
This means we do not share verbal or written information about you to others, including family, friends, lecturers, faculty, other offices of Middlesex University or external providers without your prior consent, and details of your contact with the service are not recorded on your academic records.
There are rare instances when we would have to break confidentiality, such as if you or others may be at risk of serious imminent harm.
It’s important to know that all of our Counsellors are members of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP), and our Mental Health Advisors are members of the University Mental Health Advisers Network along with other professional bodies like Social Work England, and adhere to its policy rules and ethical guidelines.
Have you had recent support through our service? We would love to hear how you found it, and whether you have recommendations in how we can improve what we are offering to our students at MDX.
