Ever wondered what your ideal boyfriend would look like if he were an AI-generated dreamboat tailored to your state’s vibes? Well, we’ve cracked the code! We surveyed Americans who are attracted to men in each state to find out what their ideal boyfriend would look like, from hairstyles to fashion aesthetics. Methodology

To visualize each state’s ideal boyfriend, we first surveyed 2,165 Americans (women and any who identify as LGBTQ+ who are attracted to men) across 44 states about their preferred physical characteristics in a male partner, including eye color, hair color, hairstyle, personal style, tattoo preferences, and glasses preferences. The survey ran over a four-week period, from July 18 to August 15, 2023. Alaska, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, and Wyoming were not included in the study due to a low pool of survey respondents in those states.

Average survey responses in each state helped us craft our prompts for Midjourney, an AI image generator, which visualized the ideal boyfriend in each state. Midjourney prompts included requests for portraits with clear facial features, diverse racial backgrounds, and image backgrounds that depicted each state’s signature landscape or aesthetic.
