Become a community researcher!
We're training up a pool of LGBTQ+ volunteers to carry out research in their own communities, on issues that matter to them.

This is a great way to gain experience and skills in facilitating focus groups, interviews & other methods of community engagement.
Find out More

As a Community Researcher you will carry out research on the issues that matter to you, and create and share the stories which are important to your communities.

One of the aims of the project is to highlight the voices of people from groups that are often under-represented in the mainstream LGBTQ+ community sector. This includes people of colour/people from BAME backgrounds, people from the trans and non-binary communities and disabled LGBTQ+ people.

You don’t need any particular qualifications or experience to apply – we value your lived experience above all else. Anyone who identifies as LGBTQ+ and lives, studies, works or socialises in Brighton & Hove is invited to apply, and we particularly invite applications from people from BAME/PoC, trans/non-binary and disabled communities.

We will be running a two-day training course to equip volunteers with the skills they need to carry out focus groups, interviews, and other methods of engagement, as well as looking at  intersectional approaches to community research. This training will take place on Saturday 6th April and Saturday 13th April.

If you are interested in becoming a Community Researcher for Switchboard and can commit to the two-day training course, we would love to hear from you.

To apply to become a Community Researcher, please complete the volunteer application form on our website, and email your completed application to meg.lewis@switchboard.org.uk.

The deadline for applications is 11:59pm on Friday 29th March 2019.

Thank you for your interest in the Community Researcher Project! We look forward to hearing from you.
