Nicki Minaj is set to be honored with one of the most prestigious salutes of her career to date. For, the Rap pioneer has been announced as the recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards 2022.

The 5x VMAs winner is set to join an elite list of names to be bestowed with the honor – such as Janet Jackson, Beyonce, Madonna, and Missy Elliott.
Historically, the award is presented to acts who’ve made a game-changing impact with the marriage of their music and visual output.
It’s expected that Minaj will take to the stage in celebration of the salute when the VMAs air live from the Prudential Center on Sunday, August 28 at 8PM ET/PT.
Speaking on Onika’s selection, Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events, Paramount and Chief Content Officer, Music, Paramount+ said in a statement:
“Nicki has broken barriers for women in hip-hop with her versatility and creative artistry. She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style and continuing to be unapologetically ‘Nicki’.”
Minaj’s brand new single ‘Super Freaky Girl’ will be unleashed on August 12.

As reported, Kendrick Lamar, Jack Harlow, and Lil Nas X lead the nominations for the VMAs 2022, which air Sunday August 28 ET/PT across 180 countries worldwide.
