A series of six online Early Childhood Music training sessions with Jane Parker

This practical and interactive online Zoom course is for anyone who wants to improve their skills and knowledge in early childhood music education. The course is led by Jane Parker from Take Art and it's part of an Early Childhood music programme called SoundWaves Network SW, funded by Youth Music.

This course will provide an opportunity to develop your skills and confidence in delivering simple singing games, rhymes and instrumental work for babies and very young children.  We will also look at ways of encouraging musical play, supporting it through adult interactions with children, and ways settings can celebrate children's musical achievements. We believe all young children arrive in our settings as creative spontaneous music makers. As facilitators, we don’t need to start from scratch when we ‘do’ music, but support, reinforce and extend what our little music makers can already do.

The course is being supported by Real Ideas - the Arts Council Bridge Organisation for the South-West of England who work with schools, youth settings and cultural organisations to connect people with art and culture. Attendees who complete the course will also earn a certificate issued by Badge Nation. Badge Nation courses are written using the Cities of Learning Badge Standard, which is endorsed by City and Guilds and the RSA.

About Jane Parker and the SoundWaves Network SW Early Years Music Practitioners

Jane Parker
Charlotte Gibbs

Jane comes with a wealth of specialist Early Years music experience and knowledge, as a project coordinator, an educator training practitioners and a researcher practitioner with very young children. She firmly believes we should recognise in all our work and resources that everyone is born creative.

Charlotte is a passionate music educator, and her work has encompassed teaching Post Graduate students right down to babies only a few weeks old. She has a particular relish for music in early childhood, which led her to complete the CME:EC, and she is currently a specialist music teacher. Charlotte is looking forward to working with Take Art to support Devon and Torbay Music Education Hubs to develop their Early Years programme.
