Panellist Biographies

Amy Walker, Freelance Talent Executive

Amy’s first job in TV was as PA to the MD of the company that started Big Brother. Prior to that she worked in theatre and journalism.

In TV Amy has freelanced as a director and producer on five continents. She was trained as a series producer by the BBC, and has worked as series producer, and development exec for all of the major broadcasters. Amy worked in commissioning at Discovery, and as head of talent at one of the Warner Bros companies, at The Garden Productions and as cover at RAW TV. She also runs Media Parents as part of her commitment to diversity in the industry.

Amy also works with Bournemouth University where she lectures on getting into TV, networking, and she supports media students on placement in industry.

Amy’s first job in production was at Channel 4, and, for the past two years, the broadcaster has sponsored her to study for an Executive MBA, proving their commitment to lifelong training for freelancers.

Julia Waring, Head of Production Talent, RDF Television

Julia joined RDF to work as part of a production team for a C4 programme. She joined permanently in May 1997 as Head of Light Entertainment and Features for RDF Rights.

After working on the LE and Features Desk until 2000, Julia was then put in charge of in-house production after which she became involved in recruitment at RDF. In 2004 she became Head of Production Talent working mainly for RDF TV, but contributing to recruitment across the group.

Julia started in the TV industry in 1984 as a secretary in drama and worked her way up to Series Producer via a mix of factual entertainment, features, travel and cookery shows at various indies.

Tom Morgan, Head of Client Services, Envy Post Production

Before moving into the Post Production industry in early 2010, Tom had many professional experiences ranging from working at an Art Dealership in East London to advising anti-counterfeiting departments in the Pharmaceutical industry. In all these industries he gained invaluable experience but it was Post media where his true aspirations lay.

Taking on a career change Tom began as a freelancer in Manchester then London, offering services from concept through to delivery on all platforms. In June 2013 he decided to move into post production, joining ENVY as a Runner and progressing to his current role, Head of Client Services.

Day-to-day his role includes recruitment, new talent development and management of the Client Services department (Runner & FOH teams) across Envy’s six London based facilities.
