Graduate Prosecution Team Summons Officer (4 Positions Available).

As a Graduate Prosecution Team Summons Officer you will input postal requisitions for Single Justice Procedure (SJP) and Police Led Prosecutions (PLP) cases into appropriate computer systems and provide an effective and efficient administrative service to the Summons Team within the Coventry Case Management Unit. As a Summons Officer you will report directly to the Coventry Central Case Management Unit Team Leader.

In addition to inputting postal requisitions for SJP and PLP cases into computer systems, you will manually input third party transmissions into appropriate Courts Service computer applications whenever requisition issues are identified.

You will be required to record offences onto the Police National Computer (PNC) for which a period of imprisonment could be imposed, process ‘dead files’ on appropriate police systems and task police officers with ‘Not Guilty Anticipated Plea’ file-build requests. You will be responsible for inputting relevant data into the Electronic File Build (EFB) application and PLP Excel spread sheet, updating force systems with SJP and PLP case disposal information and conducting PNC checks and import relevant documents into EFB.

This placement is located within the Central Case Management Unit in Coventry.

Graduate Business Support Assistant - TIU (6 Positions Available).

The Traffic Investigation Unit (TIU) is part of the Criminal Justice Services department and is responsible for Road Traffic Collision (RTC) administration and Investigation plus the Central Ticket Office (CTO).

The RTC Team are responsible for the Investigation and Case Management of all damage only slight injury and serious injury road traffic collisions (other than those occurring on the motorway network). The CTO are responsible for managing and processing speeding offences and fixed penalty notices.

Traffic Investigation Unit Graduate Business Support Assistant will provide administration support for both areas of business and will be responsible for maintaining high quality levels of service to members of the public and stakeholders.In this role you will have contact with the public and other 3rd parties by telephone and e-mail, and be trained to administer and manage the collisions reported by way of using the National Collision Recording and Sharing system.

You will administer and manage speeding offences and Penalty notices via the Pentip national computer system, manage the HORT1/2 process and administer education courses, where identified as a suitable outcome or postal charges where a Court appearance is required. You will liaise with the local Case Management Unit in relation to Court process and ongoing cases, manage archiving and filing in line with MOPI/Information services guidelines, receipt, review and action solicitors and insurance companies letters including preparation of extracts/reports.

Criminal Justice Services sits at the heart of what the public expect the police to do - bringing offenders to justice. We are responsible for force custody environments, including the staff, safer detention policies and work with estates to provide the right facilities. The department is also responsible for delivery of identification bureau resources for the force, and Crown Court antecedent history.

The role of Graduate Management Support Officer will support Criminal Justice Services by providing a variety of administrative support to Team Leaders within the Case Progression, Management and Evidential Typists teams. As a Graduate Management Support Officer, you will provide general administrative support whilst demonstrating strong organisational skills, with an ability to research and interrogate data to prepare documents for review and presentation.

As a Graduate Offender Management Assistant you will provide an efficient administration and technical service to include the maintenance of systems and processes; performance management and the enhancement of partnership working.

With support and appropriate training, you will disseminate and allocate information linked to offenders including End of Custody Licence, Electronic Monitoring, Warrants, European Arrest Warrants, J Track, Central email accounts, Prisoner Intel Notification System, Corvus, Unlawfully at large, Breach of Drug Intervention Programme and Restriction On Bail.

A key element of the role is for the post holder to enhance and develop collaborative partnership with statutory partners including Probation, HMCS, Prison Services. As part of a Corporate Asset Management Estates Project, the Project Support Assistant will work as part of a team to reduce the storage footprint across the force and support the rationalisation and centralisation of all assets from police buildings into the Centre of Excellence. The role will also contribute to the creation of an efficient fully documented storage capability that includes all force records, detained property and Tapes.

The role will include the practical weeding of records at the highest level, destroying records in accordance with legislation and guidance and recording what is kept in a fashion that permits efficient retrieval in future, including a note of the next MoPI review date. You will work as part of a collaborative, goal orientated team to identify and destroy detained property that is no longer required, replace physical items with images where possible and record what is destroyed. Working both in the relevant service delivery area and as one wider Enabling Services team you will assist in the provision of first class service delivery, ensuring that a positive customer experience is at the centre of the service delivered. You will also actively participate in meetings and make a valued contribution.

You may be required to work outside of standard office hours and to work flexibly dependent upon prevailing workloads and priorities. The placements are based in Birmingham at Handsworth and Bournville Lane Police Stations. There is the potential in the new year for the working location to change to Sandwell however this would be discussed in advance.

The FIRST Team offers an opportunity for a Forensics graduate to assist with the daily running of the function. Activities will include supporting the front desk & reception function receipting forensic evidence into the FIRST Team and having regular contact with West Midlands Police staff and officers, external agencies and other forces. Ensuring that all forensic submissions are delivered in accordance with force policy and standard operating procedures and are supported by the correct documentation whilst creating a clear audit trail for all evidence as it transits through to internal and external suppliers.

Your key responsibilities as a Graduate FIRST Forensics Officer would be to maintain a secure office environment, book in uniform and other delivered goods into the building, maintain continuity of Exhibits entering and leaving the building using case management system (Socrates), problem solve and be able to approach tasks in a methodical and precise way and shadow and assist staff with day to day administration tasks. You will be conversant with Windows operating systems and other emerging technologies and have an understanding of ISO 17025 standard and complete training folder as appropriate, as detailed within SOPS.

West Midlands Police Operational Learning & Development Team are offering the opportunity for a highly motivated and talented graduate to join the Midland Regional Tactical Training team as a Graduate Tactical Training Assistant. You will work alongside tactical training officers, assisting in the design and delivery of all courses at the centre, including Public Order, Taser, and CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological or Nuclear).

The centre is situated near Albrighton in Shropshire and the team delivers a range of courses to police officers and staff from West Midlands, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and West Mercia Police Forces. In addition, the centre is licensed to deliver College of Policing courses which attract candidates from across the UK and abroad. Reporting to the Training Supervisor on site, you will assist in the design and delivery of training programmes across a range of subjects which support the organisational and operational requirements of the region. You will also have the opportunity to develop relationships with colleagues, partners and community groups with a view to enhancing the diversity of the team.

You will assist in the preparation and delivery of lessons, incorporating the required risk assessments and safety briefs, use IT and associated equipment for the preparation and presentation of training and recruitment material and update course records and complete other administrative tasks. As a Graduate Police Now Collaboration Analyst you will be working with West Midlands Police Learning & Development Team to understand the impact of the 'Police Now' national project on our force.

You will be working with the team to analyse the provision of Police Now officers and how West Midlands Police places them within the organisation to maximise any current and future benefits from such a collaborative partnership.

The Graduate Police Now Collaboration Analyst will assess the collaborative partnership with an external provider of constables and analyse the partnership arrangements currently in place. Police Now works with many forces to provide programmes and entry schemes into Policing in line with College of Policing guidelines. West Midlands Police would like to understand the value of this collaboration and evaluate the performance of officers in the short, medium and long term. The individual will be asked to analyse what we ask of Police Now officers on joining WMP and what they contribute during the probationary period and further into the career they go on to have. It is believed Police Now provide officers of a higher academic level with potential to be leaders of the future. WMP needs to understand how we are maximising the potential of this collaboration.

Within the Leraning and Development department at West Midlands Police, the Graduate Training Provision Analyst will support a project to understand the volume of training delivered from all areas of Learning and Development locations. The project will also critically analyse the value of the training plan compared to outcomes of successfully trained staff. In addition, the project will identify leaner processes to gain full advantage of course provision which will include virtual and remote learning and course amalgamation options.

As part of the project you will critically analyse the current training plan methodology of the Learning & Development Department and identify the value from the current process in terms of success, whilst considering options to create a leaner more efficient process in future. To complete the project you will engage with staff within Learning and Development teams to understand what is currently in place and what value that offers, then evaluate current practices and results. The role is very diverse working with communities and partners across schools, licensing, communications, young people, health, diversionary partners and supporting front line neighbourhood policing teams. Whilst office based, the role is very direct in the support of front line policing. There is also a requirement for the Graduate Partnerships Officer to compile reports, review areas of business and conduct analysis.

With training and support the Graduate Partnerships Officer will support their team to work locally to prevent crime and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and to manage demand via a number of proactive and preventative interventions. You will connect with and build community relationships and work with colleagues to develop measures to 'prevent harm' at the earliest opportunity.

Working with colleagues in the local Neighbourhood Partnerships Team, the Graduate Partnership Officer will help to reduce the demand on West Midlands Police by putting in place problem solving measures to help reduce future problems within the local community. This will include working to prevent criminals reoffending with the help of consistent offender management plans and working more effectively with partners, around early intervention to reduce crime.

Based within the Professional Standards Department at West Midlands Police, the Graduate Complaints Case Assistant will work as part of a team to resolve any expression of dissatisfaction with a police force which is expressed (whether in writing or otherwise) by or on behalf of a member of the public.

In this role you will aim to promote and improve public trust and confidence in policing, by resolving complaints swiftly and at the appropriate ethical level, focusing on recovery of service rather than prolonged punitive processes. The Graduate Complaints Case Assistant will enhance public and staff experience of Professional Standards Department investigations, by providing all parties involved with a voice and by displaying trustworthy motives.

After training and support you will correctly assess complaints, conduct and other matters in accordance with legislation, guidance and organisational values. You will fact find and research complaints and conduct matters in a proportionate manner in order to establish the most appropriate ethical level of response, being guided by the force vision and values and the Code of Ethics regarding all decisions to resolve dissatisfaction.

The Graduate Talent & Organisational Effectiveness Business Support Assistant role is an integral part of the Talent and Organisational Effectiveness team within the People and Organisational Development Department, where you will work with the team to deliver force wide initiatives linked to Performance Management, Talent and Engagement. Here you will produce data insights and regular reporting to be shared with senior leaders using Excel and PowerPoint and create communication and engagement materials for force wide distribution. There will also be opportunities to be involved in many other aspects such as stakeholder engagement, delivery of training sessions and collaboration with wider teams across WMP.

You will support the performance manager in delivering the annual appraisal cycle known as 'WMP Conversations' where you will be involved in the development of training and guidance materials to support open, quality conversations and a coaching approach, using PowerPoint, Publisher and Word. You will also undertake best practice research on performance management and present findings on latest thinking and create and own project plans for key annual processes.

Working with the talent manager you will support the delivery of the talent management strategy by supporting the design and delivery of guidance tools for talent programmes. You will also attend meetings on behalf of the talent manager internally and externally to gain and share talent information and best practice. In addition you will support with career pathways, succession planning and critical roles identification, design and implementation.

You will support the employee engagement manager in delivering the employee engagement strategy. This will include planning and developing surveys and data insight materials to benchmark levels of engagement across WMP, developing communication plans and writing engaging copy to share progress against engagement priorities and encourage feedback and collaboration from colleagues

Graduate Workforce Analyst (2 Positions Available).

The Graduate Workforce Analyst will provide support and capacity to the Workforce Planning and Reporting Team, where responsibilities will include:

Based in the Work Force Planning and Reporting Team, you will provide administrative services to operational police officers and police staff across the West Midlands Police Force. Reporting to the Lead Analyst the role will provide an opportunity for you to utilise and develop your data and statistical analysis skills and learn how this information is used to support HR decisions and activity. Working closely to support HR Business Partners will also provide an insight into the HR processes and management of a large public sector organisation.

Main duties will include the collation and recording of performance data and statistical information, maintenance of appropriate systems and procedures in accordance with force policy and the data protection act (GDPR) and to assist with data quality of all People data through audit, inspection and , identification of issues and solutions

You will also provide appropriate information to internal colleagues and external stakeholders, actively participate in meetings and carry out research for projects and prepare necessary reports. In addition you will carry out basic interpretation of data/test results and present findings accurately, and also maintain relevant databases, spreadsheets and filing systems to ensure accurate and up to date data is available.

You will need to be educated to degree level. You will need to be organised and methodical and possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal. You will have excellent IT skills, having a proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel and be able to work effectively with large datasets. You will have a team player approach but be able to work well independently whilst having an ‘eye for detail’.
