SMARTEES2 AT A GLANCE

SmartEEs2 – An original European acceleration program dedicated to helping innovative companies digitise their businesses thanks to flexible and wearable electronics (FWE) testing, experimentation and manufacturing support.

How do we do it? We open a Call for Application Experiments and invite all interested companies, satisfying the criteria, to submit their application experiment proposals. The selected companies are awarded support in line with our Call requirements and the others and welcome to re-apply their ideas and / or to enter the SmartEEs Community and benefit from it.

Project facts:

Innovation Action Call: DT-ICT- 01-2019
Topic: Smart Anything Everywhere Initiative
Partners 14 partners from 9 EU countries
Budget 8M€
Duration 36 months (2020 – 2022)
Expected results 44 Application Experiments

CONTEXT

SmartEEs2 is a European project funded by the European Union´s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation programme the aim of which is to help the European Industry reinforce its competitive advantage by providing acceleration support to Innovative Companies for integration of Flexible and Wearable Electronics Technologies .

SmartEEs2 is positioning itself as a follow-up initiative to SmartEEs DIH, which has established a strong technological platform for OLAE, and is now focusing on the uptake of the same applied technologies in the frame of Flexible & Wearable Electronics (FWE) enabling use cases.

SmartEEs2 is one of the Digital Innovation Hubs (DIHs) which are ecosystems that consist of SMEs, large industries, start-ups, researchers, accelerators and investors. They aim at creating the best conditions for long-term business success for all parties involved. They help ensuring that every company, small or large, high-tech or not, can grasp the digital opportunities.

As a Digital Innovation Hub (DIH), the project is aligned with the Smart Anything Everywhere (SAE) initiative. SAE initiative supports product and service innovation through digital technologies.

OBJECTIVES & ACTIONS

SmartEEs2 has the following objectives:

  1. EASY ACCESS TO DIGITAL INNOVATION

Ensure growing awareness and interest in the opportunities of Flexible Electronics technologies within European industry, European investors, governments and other important stakeholders. Easy access to the latest FWE-driven digital innovations & experimentation facilities will be provided to early adopters and new non-digitized users (primary targets) in order to support them in gaining competitive advantage through early technology adoption.

2. HIGH-VALUE SERVICES TO INNOVATIVE COMPANIES

Provide high value services in an affordable manner to help EU companies in digitalising their business thanks to FWE technologies testing, experimentation and manufacturing support: test before invest and skills development to meet ICs’ needs.

3. PAN – EU COLLABORATION NETWORK FOR FLEXIBLE AND WEARABLE ELECTRONICS

Building a sustainable and pan-EU network of Regional DIHs in the field of Flexible & Wearable Electronics to increase the users base. This will ensure that any business in Europe has access to a Digital Innovation Hub at ‘a working distance’, in alignment with the Digitalisation European Industry Strategy.
