Welcome to the Ysgol Cynwyd Sant Distance learning website. Here you will find information on how support your child's learning during prolonged school closures. Below are the Home Learning 'Menus' for each year group.

The Remote Learning Menus has been structured around the 6 Areas of Learning and Experience.
Each AoLE has a page with direct links to further support material.

Click on the buttons below or the menu bar at the top of the website to access the Areas of Learning pages.

How will pupils access work?

This website will give you some general resources and ideas to support your child across the 6 Areas of Learning. The Home Learning Menus (above) will give specific tasks for your child to complete. We have chosen formats and platforms that are already familiar to the pupils - HWB, Seesaw, Google Classrooms. If access to the internet or suitable device is not available then your child will need to use their Home Learning Book (handed out in September) to record any work completed.

Please click on the links below to ur Seesaw and Google Classroom page for more information. Given its usefulness as a learning tool we have linked several Youtube pages on this site. We do, however, advise that parental supervision should be in place for any access to Youtube as we cannot monitor and control the content accessed outside the linked video.

Miss Evans has also a prepared a written guide which can be found here.

Ideas and resources will be added to this site fortnightly. So remember to check in regularly to see any new items published.

Sumdog

We have extended the school's paid Subscription to Sumdog for 2020/21 to allow a greater range of high quality learning opportunities for pupils during periods where distance learning is required.

Home Learning Advice

Our suggestion is that you give your day some routine and if possible dedicate two to three hour of schoolwork, especially for the KS2 pupils.

Preparing for Remote Learning

If access to the internet or suitable device is not available then your child will need to use their Home Learning Book (handed out in September) to record any work completed.

A device such as a tablet/ipad that connect to Seesaw would give access to a wider array of updated material. For pupils in KS2, access to Google Classroom is best using a laptop/Chromebook or PC.

Organisation and a suitable workspace will be important to successfully work at home. How about spending some of your first day drawing up a timetable and preparing your workspace. We advise planning 3 tasks a day in addition to reading. We will share examples of timetables on our school Twitter page.

How to share the work with the teacher?

When you have completed a task, upload or submit your work to Seesaw, 'return' on Google Classrooms or take a picture of the work and email it to your teacher.

Parents can also tweet a picture of your child(ren) completing a task or activity to the class' twitter page! Remember to use the hashtag #DysguGartrefYCS

Frequently Asked Questions

Cwestiynau Cyffredin

If I have a question about work, what is the best way to message the teacher?

Os oes gen i gwestiwn am y gwaith, beth yw'r ffordd orau o gysylltu â'r athro/athrawes?

The best way to message the teacher is via email. Each teacher’s email was added to the covering letter that was sent out. Please be patient when waiting for a reply. Our teachers are currently doing additional volunteering work at the local Hwb whilst also managing their own childcare.

I have a Hwb login, but don’t know what to do with it - can you help?

Mae gen i gyfrinair Hwb, ond dydw i ddim yn gwybod sut i'w ddefnyddio - ydych chi'n fodlon helpu?

HWB has many different uses for pupils, the website can be found here: https://hwb.gov.wales/

Foundation phase can use Hwb for J2E - here you will find different age appropriate apps that work on a computer and a tablet. The JIT app is particularly useful for Foundation Phase pupils.

From HWB, KS2 pupils can access Google Classroom, Office 365 (including their personal email), J2E, Encyclopedia of Britannica and many more apps.

For an overview of J2e on Hwb and tips on signing in, please watch the following video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FifpAgXUJq8&feature=emb_title

Will the teachers be adding more to the home learning apps as the weeks go by?

A fydd yr athrawon yn ychwanegu rhagor o apiau dysgu adref dros yr wythnosau nesaf?

The website will be updated over the coming weeks however, we are very conscious not to add too many apps and websites at the same time. The main focus should be the Home Learning menu which is carefully planned by the teaching staff.

Is this the to be completed weekly, fortnightly or termly?

Ydy'r gwaith yn cael ei osod yn wythnosol, pythefnosol neu yn dymhorol?

The Home Learning menu will be updated fortnightly. We suggest that pupils complete a maximum of three Home Learning tasks a day (KS2), these can be a mixture of activities from the home learning menu and suggestions from the Home Learning Website.

What is the time limit for completing the work?

Beth yw'r terfyn amser i gwblhau'r gwaith?

There is no time limit. We understand that these are unprecedented times for us all. We certainly don’t wish for parents to feel any additional pressure in completing work on top of their own working needs.

Could all the work be shared on one platform?

Ydy popeth yn gallu mynd ar yr un platfform?

Pupils, especially KS2 pupils are used to using a wide range of platforms in school such as Seesaw, HWB, Google Classrooms. In school, they use these confidently. We feel that it is important for children to continue using a range of platforms to present work and not rely on one platform only. Different platforms give different options on how to complete and present work. If you are having problems with any of the suggested platforms then please do not hesitate to contact us.

I have logged into Hwb but I can't see my class on Google Classroom?

Rydw i wedi mewngofnodi i Hwb ond dydw i ddim yn gallu gweld fy nosbarth ar Googe Classroom?

The most common issue is that you are already logged into another Google Account. Click the link below to see a video explaining how to change to the correct account and access your class.
