Join us for an evening of music in the Playhouse to celebrate Lord Bob Kerslake, his love of the arts and his contribution to the city and public life.
Bob Kerslake had a long association with Sheffield having been CEO of Sheffield City Council before becoming Head of the Civil Service. He chaired many national and local boards including Sheffield Theatres, Sheffield Hallam University and the Sheffield Culture Collective, which he led until his death earlier this year.
The concert will provide an opportunity for friends, colleagues and the people of Sheffield to celebrate Lord Kerslake, and the organisers have been liaising with his family to programme music performances that reflect his musical tastes.
The evening will include a performance of Rachmaninov’s Cello Sonata by two renowned Ensemble 360 musicians Tim Horton and Gemma Rosefield from Music in the Round, with thanks to CEO Jo Towler for coordinating, a number from the award-winning musical Standing at the Sky’s Edge performed by members of the cast directed by Sheffield Theatres Artistic Director and Director of the musical Robert Hastie, and a jazz quartet featuring Vimala Rowe on vocals, Andy Cleyndert on bass, Darren Becker on drums and Jim Watson on piano secured by Jez Matthews of The Jazz at the Lescar - visited by Bob and Anne Kerslake. A wider selection of Bob’s favourite music will also be played at the pre-show drinks, with the playlist compiled by his son, Michael.
The ‘in the round’ concert starts at 7.30pm with pre-show drinks from 7pm.
Each ticket includes the evening of performance and a pre-show drink.
Tickets can be booked for £20 per person, with all ticket sale profits donated to the Archer Project and St Mungo’s charities as requested by Lord Kerslake’s family.
With special thanks to Kings College Hospitals who have sponsored the event programme performers.
