General Manager - The Everglades Hotel

Northern Ireland’s leading luxury hotel group, Hastings Hotels are seeking an experienced, confident, hospitality management professional for the position of General Manager of the 4-star Hastings Everglades Hotel. This role presents an excellent opportunity for a strong Deputy General Manager seeking to take their first step into Hotel General Management.

As General Manager you will ensure operations meet the venues target customer needs, ensuring employee satisfaction, focus on growing revenues and maximise financial performance. As General Manager, you will develop and implement strategies that deliver products and services to meet or exceed the needs and expectations of our customers and employees. You will enjoy delivering high end service and standards, whilst developing team skills and have proven track record of bringing out the best in people in line with our new staff recruit and retain strategy.

Building a loyal team and creating a good working culture amongst all employees is an important aspect of this role.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, your daily direct reports will be Heads of Department and senior management colleagues at the property.

About the role

  • Responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Everglades Hotel.

  • Accountability for financial management, planning, organising, and directing all hotel services.

  • Managing budgets and financial plans as well as controlling expenditure.

  • Managing heads of departments to coordinate and monitor the progress of business strategies in line with budgets and targets to increase revenue.

  • Responsibility for ensuring a highly customer focused environment is always maintained.

  • Ensuring the implementation and delivery of Hastings brand service strategy and brand initiatives with the objective of meeting or exceeding guests’ expectations.

  • Participate in the hiring, training and development, scheduling, interviewing, and disciplining of team members as and where required.

  • Liaising with and utilising the support of suppliers and other external contacts as appropriate.

  • Creating and effectively executing development plans for direct reports based on their individual strengths, development needs, and career aspirations to retain talent within the business.

  • Ensuring an effective and safe working environment is maintained in compliance with appropriate legislation, such as Licensing Laws, Health & Safety, and other statutory requirements.

  • Maintaining and strengthening the Hotel’s commitment to having a well presented, well trained and efficient workforce that reflects its hospitality rating and in line with Hastings brand.

  • Ensure corporate policy and internal department procedures are always applied.

  • Promoting and represent the hotel and group at industry events.

  • Reviewing the hotels carbon footprint and working with the Managing Director and group GM’s to implement measure to reduce it.

  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekends, holidays and late nights in line with business demands.

  • Building and maintaining community relationships with local businesses, community groups and charities to maintain the properties support for the local community.

  • Duties are not limited to above, as we well know no two days in the world of hospitality are ever the same.

 

ABOUT YOU

  • The ability to be the leader and face of the Everglades Hotel.

  • Strong Deputy General experience (2/3 years) or previous GM experience within 4 star market.

  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.

  • A result driven approach with the ability to meet/exceed deadlines.

  • A strong commercial awareness to achieve financial and profitable performance.

  • The ability to prioritise, plan, organise and demonstrate a strong attention to detail in all aspects of the role.

  • The ability to inspire others and engage professionally with people – customers, staff & students.

  • Excellent people management skills both for customers and team members.

  • A clear understanding of the sector and business management knowledge.

  • A genuine passion for providing a high-end service.

  • The ability to work and develop relationships with local businesses / charities and community groups.

  • Be a self-motivated and passionate individual.
