This is a form of Child Criminal Exploitation. Child Exploitation is Child Abuse. Financial exploitation can cause significant harm to a young person and have long lasting effects on their life. Yet despite this, the financial exploitation of children and young people is not well understood and can often be overlooked. At The Children’s Society, we are developing our understanding of financial exploitation and advocating for professionals to view it as a specific harm type unto itself, as well as understanding its context within and connection to other forms of exploitation and abuse. | CYBER SECURITY - Cyber Security Training for Staff | Digital Care Hub | Training offers and resources. Make sure staff are trained to know the benefits of operating digitally but are also aware of cyber security threats and how to deal with them. Due to the rapid development and changes in digital technology it is a good idea to add cyber security to your annual training plans. As part of the Better Security, Better Care programme, we have developed the free, open access Data Security and Protection eLearning Course. This covers how to keep paper and digital information safe, and it enables care providers to comply with Data Security and Protection Toolkit training requirements. The National Cyber Security Centre has produced an e-learning training package. It is free and takes less than 30 minutes to complete. The Stay Safe Online: Top Tips for Staff training is primarily aimed at small and mediums sizes organisations, charities and the voluntary sector, but can be applied to any organisation, regardless of size or sector. You can either direct your staff to the NCSC website or if you have your own online learning portal you can easily integrate it into it. Each police force will also have a Cyber Protect team. They provide advice, presentations and planning exercises with businesses and charities to raise awareness of cyber threats and help organisations protect themselves. Regional Cyber Resilience Centres, which are funded by the Home Office, also offer staff training on a group and one off basis. This is a low-cost service. Their other support, including guidance and webinars, is free of charge. Other external support currently available includes the NHSDigital / England’s Immersive Labs platform, a premium online cyber security learning platform, is available for all technical and cyber orientated colleagues in social care. Here at Digital Social Care, we provide guidance on data and cyber security training materials and their suitability for care providers, which includes suggestions for ways to increase data and cyber security awareness amongst staff and for subject areas that training should cover. We also have staff guidance documents for data security and protection which covers an introduction to data sharing, guidance on responding to subject access requests and how to respond to data breaches. We also host the Better Security, Better Care programme which offers free support to care providers to enable them to complete the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Care providers can check their cyber security arrangements by using the DSPT. Central and local government bodies, local authority and NHS commissioners, the Care Quality Commission and the National Data Guardian recognise it as the official tool to evaluate your compliance with legal requirements, Data Security Standards and good practice. | |||

| RELATIONSHIPS - Talk Relationships: delivering sex and relationships education training | NSPCC | Online training to support secondary school teachers and leaders to deliver inclusive sex and relationships education We want all young people to grow up understanding healthy behaviours in relationships and to get help from a trusted adult if they need it. These elearning courses are part of our Talk Relationships service that supports people working in secondary education to overcome any challenges they may face when delivering sex and relationships education. There are two courses: • For teachers Supporting teaching staff delivering sex and relationships training and helping to develop their confidence in this area. • For school leaders Helping leaders to implement a whole-school approach to sex and relationships education and support teaching staff delivering this. What will I learn? Both training courses contain a range of reflective tasks and film interviews that share insight from teachers, young people, and safeguarding experts, and will help you to: • understand the importance of good-quality sex and relationships education • create safe and respectful learning environments • confidently respond to safeguarding concerns and young people sharing their experiences of abuse • handle difficult discussions and respond to questions from young people • overcome common challenges and barriers • have effective conversations with parents and carers • understand how your attitudes and beliefs play a part in your delivery of sex and relationships education • understand the relevant education and safeguarding legislation and guidance. | SCAMS – awareness sessions | Friends Against Scams (Trading Standards) | Friends Against Scams awareness sessions are run by SCAMchampions, who have completed the SCAMchampion training session. Each 45 minute Friends Against Scams awareness session is fun and interactive and a chance to meet other people who want to take a stand against scams. Too many children and young people with SEND continue not to achieve their ambitions, and not all schools and colleges are yet inclusive and welcoming of learners with SEND. | SEXUAL HARRASSMENT - Managing A Disclosure Of Sexual Harassment Or Assault | Brook | Managing a disclosure of sexual harassment, assault or abuse may be the most challenging conversation you have as a teacher. Be prepared with this course. The aim of this course is to equip school staff with the skills and knowledge needed to confidently manage a student’s disclosure of sexual harassment or sexual assault or sexual abuse. Ofsted’s review of sexual abuse told us that sexual harassment has become so commonplace in schools that young people don’t see the point in reporting incidents. If a young person chooses you as the person they trust with their disclosure, how you support them can have a profound impact on their lives. | SUICIDE - Associated Brain Alterations and Future Suicide Ideation in Female Adolescents and Young Adults with Mood Disorders | The Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health | Podcast: ‘Brain grey and white matter structural associations with future suicidal ideation and behaviors in adolescent and young adult females with mood disorders’ (https://doi.org/10.1002/jcv2.12118). There is an overview of the paper, methodology, key findings, and implications for practice.
