WEX Norfolk - Service to Mainstream Schools
Work experience opportunities are really valued by employers and are vital to young people, providing them with an invaluable opportunity to engage with the labour market and helping them to make the transition from education into working life.
A well established and highly successful work placement service, Work Experience Norfolk (trading style WEX Norfolk) holds Fairtrain’s Work Experience Quality Standard for Facilitators at Gold standard. This is a national accreditation which provides external quality assurance for high quality work experience and employability programmes. Norfolk County Council are the only gold accredited provider currently operating in Norfolk.
The Work Placement Support Service provides advice and support for school/college staff responsible for block and extended Work Related Learning/Work Experience/Work Shadowing placements. We offer health and safety checks of employers, a brokered placement service for SEND students and post 16 students on study programmes, and health and safety checks of Alternative Providers.
Our aim is to offer a service which :
• Offers practical, appropriate and timely support to schools/colleges
• Promotes the benefits to schools/colleges and young people of gaining meaningful work experience placements
• Works with you to help support SEND students and post 16 students on study programmes to access bespoke, brokered work placement opportunities
COVID 19 statement: Health and safety assessment decisions and any additional requirements to support COVID 19 compliance, have been made based solely on information provided by the employer, who retains the legal liability for health and safety.
As of 11 November 2021 and in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008 (Regulated Activities) Regulations, if a young person requests a placement in a registered care home setting then, dependant on their age and the setting’s requirements, we may need to ask for additional information/written evidence re the young persons COVID vaccination status. If a young person is unable/refuses to provide this information then the placement request will not be processed further.
Registered care home employers may consider that they are unable to offer a placement based on the information provided to them. WEX Norfolk and Norfolk County Council will not challenge any employer decision in this regard.
