Good Practice for Primary EAL Coordinators

Outline

This CPD has been redesigned for Senior Leaders, EAL Coordinators and HLTAS with responsibility for Primary EAL to gain expertise, confidence and the resources to develop excellent provision for English as an Additional Language pupils in their school.

Description

This course consists of three modules which will cover:

  • Key EAL background and definitions
  • Effective admissions and induction
  • Use of interpretation services and tools
  • Use of assessment trackers and frameworks
  • EAL-friendly teaching strategies
  • Promoting diversity and inclusivity
  • Recognising and celebrating first languages
  • EAL and SEN – Distinguishing the difference
  • Developing an EAL policy and whole school strategy
  • Resources

There will be plenty of time to ask questions and discuss your own EAL challenges throughout the course. Delegates will be offered a 30 minute 1:1 consultation after the course to discuss school specific plans.

  • Develop an understanding of whole-school approaches to EAL

Virtual School Cancellation Policy:
For non-attendance and for any cancellations made within 28 days of the training date, the whole fee will be charged. For cancellations made more than 28 working days prior to the training date a £25.00 administration fee will be charged.
