Countries have recognized the importance of agriculture, land use changes, and food security in their climate adaptation efforts, with 95% of updated Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and 100% of submitted National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) including agriculture and food security as a priority. At Cop27 in 2022, countries “recognized that scaling-up implementation requires enhanced knowledge-sharing on best practices, access to finance, technology development and transfer, and capacity building”.

This session at the NAP Expo 2023 aims to respond to this growing recognition. Participants will hear about good practices and increase their understanding of practical steps on how to adopt a climate-resilient food security perspective throughout the NAP process through the development of a knowledge sharing platform by the Climate Resilient Food Systems Alliance (CRFS).

The objectives of the session include:

  • Presenting practical methods for translating climate adaptation goals into transformative solutions;
  • Sharing countries’ experiences in the implementation of adaptation in agriculture and land use, including using systems approaches, engaging the private sector, and adopting a food security perspective.
