Most countries are developing monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) systems to track progress under their National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process as there is a growing need for local communities affected by climate change. However, actively tracking the implementation of NAPs and reporting on the progress made can be challenging as different MEL systems coexist at the national level with limited resources.

This session at the NAP Expo 2023 will enable the sharing of perspectives, experiences and lessons learned on MEL from NAPs in the context of global processes such as the Global Goal on Adaptation.

The session will:

  • Provide an overview of MEL systems for adaptation in global processes;
  • Describe NAP progress reporting and why it is important for the NAP process based on country examples;
