The United Kingdom pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai will host, over a period of 5 days, special sessions under the title “Innovation for a Shared Future”, in which prominent figures from art, design and media scholars discuss some important issues, including “How creativity can be harnessed to secure the future of both people and the planet.” ?”, “How to better nurture creative talent and creativity”, and others.
Activities include a Summit on the Future of Creativity, where Nigel Huddleston, UK Minister for Sport, Tourism, Heritage and Civil Society will deliver a keynote address on how the creative industries are adapting to a changing landscape, and how the UK can bring about sustainable change and cultural advancement to the world.
The United Kingdom pavilion will host a sculpture by British artist and sculptor Nicola Anthony, whose completion was unveiled yesterday.
Lincola Anthony said that the sculpture she worked on was completed in a very short time, as she began preparing for a whole month, and began work on it in late September, and was completed in just eight days. She explained that the clock-glass sculpture draws attention to issues related to the environment and sustainability by connecting with online conversations at COP26, which marks a turning point in global action on the climate crisis.
She pointed out that the display of the sculpture at the UK Pavilion will last for five days alongside a group of talents from various creative industries in the UK, which aims to explore how creativity can tackle some of the major challenges of our time.
She said: “Through my work, I focus on novels and memory, creating a world of memories and narratives, and my work takes two forms: text sculptures or layered drawings, and I have recently focused on stainless steel sculptures or hand-burned paper carvings and drawings with light projection, and I laser cut metal And heat to create text. Other works also include glassware in which I hang kinetic text sculptures.”
