Consisting of a broad portfolio of polyethylene glycols (PEGs), BASF's portfolio of ethoxylated polymer-solubilizers is known for its versatility across a myriad of dosage forms.

Polyethylene glycols (PEGs) are ethoxylated polymer-solubilizers that are readily soluble in water, ethanol, acetone, glycols and chloroform. Applicable for oral and topical formulations, these excipients can also be used as chemical intermediates in drug formulations. Our high and low molecular weight PEGs are available as liquids, semi-solids, and solids to suit your individual formulation needs.

Benefits

  • Wide acceptance in pharmaceutical application for over 50 years
  • Versatile, water-miscible vehicle used as solvent and solubilizing agent for active substances and excipients in liquid and semisolid preparation
  • Inhibits crystallization of poorly soluble APIs when paired with miscible BASF polymers
  • Low aldehyde grade ensures softgel performance by mitigating gelatin cross-linking that inhibits disintegration and minimizing peroxide and aldehyde formation via preventative manufacturing and storage measures
  • High molecular weight PEGs will not support microbial growth, even in aqueous solutions
