New befriending service

Take a look to see how you could become a befriender to someone this new year…

Could you become a befriender to someone this new year?

Loneliness and social isolation have always been worrying but with the current COVID-19 guidelines there are thousands of people in Essex who receive little to no physical interactions with other people every single day.

So that’s why an Essex befriending service has been set up by the Essex Wellbeing Service. This new service will make sure people who are lonely in Essex can benefit from the kindness of an official befriender. Watch this short animation to find out more.

A simple phone call or zoom session could make the world of difference to someone who is feeling isolated or lonely. So why not use your Essex County Council volunteering time and become a befriender.

For more information and to register, please visit the Essex Wellbeing Service website or telephone the Essex Wellbeing Service on 0300 303 9988.
