The Golden Trio are back together again, with Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint set to reunite in celebration of the film franchise’s 20th anniversary.

All the way back in 2001, fans of the Harry Potter book series were introduced to Daniel as the Chosen One, Emma as the whipsmart Hermione Granger and Rupert as the lovable Ron when the Philosopher’s Stone was released.

Two decades later, the three stars are going to come back together again along with several other members of the cast and crew for the anniversary, which will mark an extremely exciting event for Potterheads around the world.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is due to air on New Year’s Day on HBO Max, but will be made available to viewers around the world on other platforms.

Taking place at Warner Bros Studio Tour London, where fans of the books and movies are transported to a world of witchcraft and wizardry, the event will also include appearances from notable names including Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Tom Felton, Bonnie Wright, Robbie Coltrane, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton and more.

In addition to hearing from people involved in the creation of movie magic on the acclaimed film franchise in in-depth interviews, the anniversary special will also feature never-seen-before clips.

While the stars of Harry Potter have gone on to enjoy varied and successful careers in their own rights, their connection to the boy wizard and his tale will always remain with them.

In a recently unearthed interview with Daniel, the actor admitted that he loves to hear how Harry Potter is a go-to watch for people when they have hangovers, due to the comfort they feel from their childhood memories.

‘One of my favourite fates that we could never have ever imagined for the Harry Potter films, but that I have been told by several friends, is that they are fantastic when people are hungover and feeling really crappy about themselves,’ he said.

‘They will just watch a few movies back-to-back and it just takes them to a place of warmth and comfort. That is so lovely to me. That is the real-world effect that a film can have on someone’s life. I think that is great.’

Christopher Columbus, who directed The Philosopher’s Stone and The Chamber of Secrets, recently revealed that he would like to see Daniel, Emma and Rupert return to reprise their roles in a film adaptation of the stage play The Cursed Child.

‘I would love to direct The Cursed Child. It’s a great play and the kids are actually the right age to play those roles. It’s a small fantasy of mine,’ he told Variety.

Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts is due to air on HBO Max on January 1.
