Overview

The Second Session of the Conference was scheduled to take place from 16 November to 20 November 2020 at United Nations Headquarters in New York. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on the United Nations conferences and meetings, the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction decides to postpone the Second Session of the Conference to a later date. This decision was adopted by participating  States on 28 August 2020 as A/CONF.236/DEC.5

The Second Session of the Conference on the Establishment of a Middle East Zone Free of Nuclear Weapons and Other Weapons of Mass Destruction was held from 29 November to 3 December 2021 at United Nations Headquarters in New York under the presidency of Kuwait, with President-designate Ambassador Mansour Al-Otaibi.

EXPERIENCE

2010 – Present
As Permanent Representative, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the United Nations, he continues to participate in various meetings, conferences and international forums, both within and outside the United Nations framework. Attended NAM Ministerial Meetings, Rio+20, High-Level Donor Conferences on Syria, as well as Security Council related meetings and programs.

Represented Kuwait in the Security Council 2018-2019

Represented Kuwait in several Special Visit programs by invitation of countries such as Australia, Bahamas, Venezuela, Japan. Italy, Thailand, Netherlands, Georgia, Portugal and China.

Organized a Special Visit program for several UN Ambassadors to visit Kuwait in line with Kuwait’s candidature to the ECOSOC for the term 2013-2015

Organized several functions such as Cultural and Educational Events, Exhibitions, Receptions and Luncheons in line with the candidature of Kuwait to the ECOSOC for the term 2013-2015 and the Security Council for the term 2018-2019
