About Me

I am a fourth-year PhD student working with Dr. Denis Pelli at New York University (NYU). I am interested in using psychological tools to characterize the experience of beauty. More specifically, I am interested in understanding how aesthetic value informs our everyday decisions. Some of my projects include assessing the viability of repeated measures in the context of beauty judgment, comparing beauty judgment to other perceptual judgment, and understanding the social context of beautiful experiences. I also have experience applying aesthetics research to industry contexts.

Before joining the Pelli Lab, I completed my B.A. in Psychology at Georgetown University where I also minored in Cognitive Science and Computer Science. As an undergraduate, I worked at the Georgetown University Neuroaesthetics Laboratory, where Dr. Norberto Grzywacz and I studied the perception of an appreciation for multiple vertical axes of symmetry. I also worked with Dr. Carlos Velasco at BI Norwegian Business school, where I studied how different aesthetic features could covey different brand meanings and how aesthetic features relate to approach-avoidance motivated behavior.

I was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia and moved to the United States to complete my education. In my free time, I enjoy travelling, board games, and playing ultimate frisbee.
