On 17 January 2024, inter-communal clashes erupted between Al Jukhaisat tribesmen and Bur’as tribesmen in Aj Jagoumi village of Ghubaish locality, West Kordofan. The incident reportedly occurred following a dispute over access to land. As a result of the violence, four individuals were reportedly killed. Field teams reported that approximately 162 households were displaced. Affected households sought refuge in Muraba’at, Flendo, Eial Naeem, Okaz Al Modeer, Siba and Umm Dabeiba villages of Ghubaish locality. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further information on displacement and population mobility across Sudan, on a weekly basis, via its Weekly Displacement Snapshot.
