DTM Sudan Flash Alert: Inter-communal Conflict in Buram (Alsiwaina and Umm Kradees Villages) South Darfur
DTM Sudan's Early Warning Flash Alerts provide immediate updates on incidents and sudden displacement in Sudan. These Flash Alerts aim to notify humanitarian partners of sudden events where DTM's Emergency Event Tracking (EET) may subsequently take place.
On 22 November 2023, inter-communal clashes renewed between Salamat tribesmen and Habaniya tribesmen in Alsiwaina and Umm Kradees Villages of Buram locality, South Darfur. This event follows previously reported clashes between the two tribes within the same locality on 18 November 2023. As a result of the violence, 11 individuals were reportedly killed. Field teams reported that approximately 1,880 households were displaced. Affected residents have sought refuge in Buram Town. Field teams also reported incidents of burning of personal property across Alsiwaina and Umm Kradees villages of Buram locality. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further information on displacement and population mobility across Sudan, on a weekly basis, via its Weekly Displacement Snapshot.
