On 22 January 2024, clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Sungo village of Um Dafoug locality, South Darfur. SAF conducted airstrikes targeting RSF positions across Sungo village. As a result of the violence, eight individuals were reportedly killed and an unconfirmed number were injured. Field teams reported that residents were displaced from affected neighborhoods to other locations across neighboring localities. Estimates on the number of displaced individuals are yet to be confirmed. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further information on displacement and population mobility across Sudan, on a weekly basis, via its Weekly Displacement Snapshot.
