On 23 January 2024, clashes renewed between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Babanusa Town of Babanusa locality, West Kordofan. Field teams reported airstrikes carried out by SAF targeting RSF positions south of Babanusa Town. Reportedly, the event led to widespread displacement across Babanusa Town. Estimates on the number of displaced individuals are yet to be confirmed. Field teams report that the majority of displaced individuals had already been displaced due to previous attacks. Displaced households sought refuge in villages across neighboring localities. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further information on displacement and population mobility across Sudan, on a weekly basis, via its Weekly Displacement Snapshot.
