On 27 and 30 November 2023, clashes erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in Babanusa Town of Babanusa locality, West Kordofan. Reportedly, clashes took place at the military HQ, as well as in Abu Ismail and Al Nasr neighbourhoods of Babanusa Town. Field teams reported that this event led to widespread displacement across Babanusa locality. Affected households have been displaced to Al Gantoor, Et Tibbun, Um Ash, and El Deilma villages of Babanusa locality, and to Kigeira Al Idd, Burta, Suntaya, Shuaa, and Bagara villages of As Salam locality, West Kordofan. Estimates of the number of displaced individuals are yet to be confirmed. Field teams also reported an unconfirmed number of injuries as a result of the violence. The situation remains tense and unpredictable. DTM is monitoring the situation closely and will provide further information on displacement and population mobility across Sudan, on a monthly basis, via its Monthly Displacement Overview.
