D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) is launching its first-ever, citywide book club! Join us for empowering conversations for students, parents, and community members aligned with our values and the issues that our communities encounter each day.
On June 19 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at Brookland Middle School, we’ll discuss the themes of race, ethnicity, and culture with Chancellor Alexander, Councilman David Grosso, and a panel of engaged educators. This event will feature a discussion around three book selections:
- Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption by Bryan Stevenson (Adult)
- The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas (Young Adult)
- Last Stop on Market Street by Matt de la Pena (Children's)
DCPS will give away a limited number of books at upcoming district and school-level events. Copies of most book club selections are also available through D.C. Public Library. For additional information, visit dcps.dc.gov/bookclub.
