Upcoming weekend road closure

A full weekend road closure will take place between the new Chiverton interchange and Boxheater from 8pm on Friday 14 July to 6am on Monday 17 July.

What is happening?
The closure is required to undertake to complete a series of road tie-ins to the new A30, major earthworks that cannot be completed while the road is open, and a traffic switch at Chybucca. 

The official diversion route will be well sign posted and can be viewed here. The B3284 south will be open at the Chybucca interchange where you will be able to turn left only onto the A30 (westbound) towards the new Chiverton Interchange.

Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey. There will be overnight closures of the A30 the following week and we will full provide details of these in due course. 

The Chevron Traffic Safety Control Officer helpline number, for landlocked residents whose only way out is onto the A30 and who need access during the weekend is 07918 586974, a resident's pass will be provided. A safety vehicle will attend and escort you out of the closure area. 

Chiverton update
 
Following the opening of the new Chiverton interchange last month we’re aware that there has since been additional congestion in comparison to the old Chiverton roundabout.
 
This is a temporary layout and it’s the first stage in delivering a new grade separated junction with a flyover to be constructed later this year, which will separate A30 traffic from local traffic.
 
While there has been some improvement as drivers have got used to the new, temporary layout, we are aware that there remains more congestion than usual and are looking at easing traffic flows, particularly those in the westbound direction.
 
We have added extra signage, and installed two sets of traffic signals at the A30 westbound entry to the interchange. We are also managing the A390 filter lane so that the lights operate as effectively as possible. The traffic signals will be manually operated to allow flexibility in management of traffic and will be operational weekdays from 7am to 7pm only, with scope for weekend operation too. 

Additionally we have changed some of the road markings at the interchange, including on the B3277 approach. 
 
These measures will be carefully monitored and we will continue to do what we can to minimise congestion as we deliver this major highway upgrade for Cornwall.
