We hope the first half of your spring term has gone smoothly and this Email Update finds you well.

With the majority of our Work Groups and Programmes well underway we are very excited to be able to share with you details of a new Work Group starting on Wednesday 2nd March.

Spatial Reasoning in KS2
Work Group

- Research and Innovation Work Group

Spatial ability has been shown to contribute to performance in mathematics and improvement in a child's spatial reasoning is linked to improvement in their mathematical understanding.

This Work Group provides schools with an opportunity to be involved in small-scale research focussing on the development of spatial reasoning, and how this can specifically support KS2 children with their multiplicative thinking.

What is involved?

The 4 half day workshops will focus on:

the importance of spatial reasoning in mathematics
the 3 spatial reasoning constructs
the links between spatial reasoning and multiplicative structures
conducting small-scale action research
