Babies and toddlers

Find support and ways to help your baby or toddler’s development at your local library.

Start your child’s first library membership

There is no age limit on joining the library, so you can sign up your child any time and get their first library card.

We have lots of picture books for younger readers, and board books that are specially designed for tiny hands.

Our breastfeeding policy

All our libraries welcome breastfeeding mothers. Find out more on the Essex Child and Family Wellbeing website.
