Assassination of a Kurdish political activist in Erbil

Hengaw: A political activist and a member of the leadership of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) was assassinated in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

According to a report received by  Hengaw Human Rights Organization, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, the body of Musa Babakhani, a political activist from Kermanshah and a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), was found in "Gwli Sulaimaniyah " Hotel in central Erbil. was discovered.

The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) has issued a statement saying that Musa Babakhani was abducted by two Iranian security forces on the way to Erbil on Thursday and that the effects of severe torture were evident on his body.

Musa Babakhani was 39 years old and a native of Kermanshah. He had been a member of the Democratic Party for 20 years and was a member of the Central Committee at the party's last congress.

The body of Musa Babakhani was taken to a forensic pathology in Erbil, and so far the Kurdistan Regional Security Forces have not released any news about it.
