As I present this Annual Report of UN results, I invite you to share my view that 2021 witnessed the laying of critical foundations for the Guyana of the future, the Guyana which will achieve the 2030 Agenda.

2021 Results Highlights

Over 700 teachers trained to use online education tools, resources, and platforms.
Over 170,000 children benefitted from continuity of learning support.
Delivered over 300,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Guyana through the COVAX facility with UNICEF.
Provided ambulances and critical medical equipment to benefit over 9,000 persons for COVID-19 response.
Mobile Gender-Based Violence application [iMatter] developed under the Spotlight Initiative programme.
Supported digitalization in agriculture food systems including Guyana Rice Development Board to improve monitoring 160 tonnes of rice produced by 6,000 farmers.
Supported some 5000 vulnerable households with cash assistance through the national social protection system.
Over 16,000 migrants and refugees received individual counselling on access to services.
Demarcated 35.3 square miles of land in Region 2 for titling to Amerindian communities and began survey of more than 1,000 square miles in Regions 7 and 9.
Trained staff of 20 national agencies, led by the Environmental Protection Agency and Guyana Bureau of Statistics, in environmental data and statistics value chain.
Rapid malaria diagnostics and treatment reached 33 locations in Region 1 and tested over 1,000 people.
HIV prevention pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) made available.
1,300 farmers, majority women, benefited from additional seeds and support from the National Agricultural Research Institute following the floods.
Stimulated the participation of civil society, private sector and Amerindian communities in decision making on local financial resources use in Region 9.
The National Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction adopted.
