AA History Lovers AAHistoryLovers@groups.io

A continuation of the group that was started by Nancy Olson all those years ago. Moved here because the Yahoo group platform "AAHL" was on at the time was being shut down and not supported much anymore. Glenn F. Chesnut (rest in peace, Glenn you are greatly missed!), third and former moderator of the AAHL/AAHL2 groups on Yahoo has passed the torch of to me (Thom R) and I have moved it here because it is an excellent platform created by the original programmers of Yahoo groups. It is my intention to be of service and help carry it forward via this new, improved, well moderated "AAHL@groups.io" here. We are and have always been family, dedicated to learning fascinating truths about AA history. As your current moderator and servant, I am definitely going to do my best to help keep this group on topic as we learn together and share our love of AA history far and wide.
I've also created a matching private group over on Facebook that you're welcome to join as well. The Facebook group, while still moderated, is much more casual but still "dense" in terms of the information. It is meant to be more relaxed so that people can be less formal while still sharing AA history. It also serves to keep "AAHL@groups.io" on track as something that can hopefully remain extremely dense with information and remain ultimately useable for in-depth research later. "AAHL@Facebook" is not meant to be as structured as this "classic" AAHL, here. So in this way, truly, we can have something for everyone! :)

That being said: here's the link to the Facebook group (currently over 40,000 members and growing quickly :)

https://www.facebook.com/groups/2244755489165177/

There is currently no way to link messages between the Facebook group and here. That is, I believe, for the best though. In that way, we can more easily keep OUR focus as we dig deep into archives research here and stay organized, while also sharing our joy of archives and AA history over there. And besides, nothing prevents me from archiving it anyway at some point and storing that here, perhaps in a searchable/researchable format. We'll see what happens, later, as we further develop and expand this new, "double platform approach" to AAHL.

As for AAHL@groups.io, we are going to keep this group on topic through tight moderation. In that way we should have a very high density and informative group that should continue to be of service to everyone involved over time. Long-term members should find nothing off-putting about that, in fact it should be welcomed because that's the way if has been done for most of the (currently 22 year) history of AAHL.

Enjoy this group effort, this labor of love, this  continuing  celebration and journey of discoveries, as we dig deeper and deeper together into AA history than ever before!

Thanks for letting me be of service!

Best,

Thom R.
AAHL Administrator
