Last year, it was found that half a million older people across the UK are expecting to feel lonely at Christmas. Of these, 4 in 5 (79%) have not sought any help and over half of these (52%), loneliness has become a 'normal' part of life.
Whilst working as a domiciliary carer for Kare Plus Preston, I was often the only person that would visit them in their home. In many instances, they had no family or friends around or in the area, this meant they would have around 2 hours of interaction (if that) all day.
Our aim this Christmas is to ensure each of our elderly clients with no family has some Christmas decorations put up throughout the property. We also want ensure they wake up Christmas morning with a gift to open with their carer as well as a festive meal
We at Kare Plus Preston would also like to raise a little extra to support local charity, Cash for Kids which supports children and young people affected by poverty, abuse, neglect and life limited illness. We can help towards ensuring each family has a gift to unwrap this Christmas.
We want to spread joy to those that unfortunately find it really hard at Christmas time and really need your support to help us do so!! £5 can provide a festive meal and £10 can provide a gift or hamper to those most vulnerable.
