Software and Data
Strong support for Open Science. Leader of FOSS for satellite image time series analysis using machine learning. Produced data sets of land-use change and land-use scenarios for balancing production and protection in Brazil.
Environmental Policy
Key role on reduction of deforestation in Amazonia and Cerrado biomes. Contributed to studies on land use policy options for Brazil and with scientific guidance for Brazil’s pledges to the Paris Agreement.
Data Policy
Respected advocate of free and open Earth observation and GIS data. Supports the global effort of GEO (Group on Earth Observations) to use geospatial data for sustainable development.

Engaging speaker at international venues on deforestation, land use policy, open Science, big Earth observation data and Earth observation for sustainable development.
