Earthwatch's 2020-2021 Scholarship Fund Application

Earthwatch invites you to apply for the 2020-2021 Scholarship Fund!

Apply to receive matching funds from Earthwatch's Groups Scholarship Fund for groups travelling in 2021. High school teachers and trip leaders seeking financial support for student expeditions may present a fundraising goal, which upon acceptance to the scholarship and fulfilment will be matched by Earthwatch. Applications will be reviewed and accepted on a rolling basis. Matching funds will be awarded upon receipt of raised funds from school group.

Rules and Requirements:

- Your group must include at least 6 students travelling with Earthwatch in 2021.

- Funds raised and matching amounts must be split evenly among the group or allocated based on greatest need.

- Students and their families must take part in some of the fundraising activities.

- While fundraising, you must work on establishing and maintaining a local donor network that groups from your school can contact for support on future expeditions.

- Individuals

- Grants

- School funds

-Local employers

- Community organizations

- Donor matching programs

-Other voluntary/application-based funders

*Contributions benefitting individual students only may not be counted toward fundraising goals.

Preference will be given to schools who demonstrate the greatest need for financial support and the greatest commitment to partnering with Earthwatch on an ongoing basis. Additional matching scholarships may become available for long-term partners.

Fundraising can be a difficult and sometimes unpredictable process. What is your plan to ensure that you and your students "cross the finish line" and meet your fundraising goal? *

Priority will be given to schools and group leaders that plan to establish long-term partnerships with Earthwatch. Because this scholarship is limited to one year, please describe how you plan to use this initial support to establish a long-term travel program with Earthwatch at your school. If applicable, demonstrate how an Earthwatch partnership would be sustained if you are personally unable to lead a trip in the future. *
