Postcolonial and Decolonial Perspectives in International Relations

29th April: 6-7pm - Theme: Theorizing from the Global South

Abstract

One of the main contributions from postcolonial and decolonial perspectives is drawing our attention to theories and ideas from the so-called Global South. Instead of providing empirical material for theories develop abroad, for some people, it is time for the Global South to present its own conceptual contributions. However, what does it mean to theorize from the Global South? How does this academic and political project challenge the central theoretical debates in IR? These are some of the questions this workshop will address.
